What does the passing of time look like? How can a century of memories be immortalized? If a photographer wanted to portray life, how would he do it?
5050 años de experiencia
5050 años de experiencia es una fotografía muy especial que abarca 100 años de vida. En un retrato grupal, se juntan 101 personas de cada una de las edades que van entre los 0 y los 100 años. Quienes empiezan a vivir y quienes cargan a sus espaldas décadas de vida. Muchos de ellos tienen lazos familiares y de amistad, pero todos están conectados por un vínculo singular e invisible: el de formar parte, por un día, de una familia fotográfica.
5050 años de experiencia habla del paso del tiempo, de la vida y la memoria. Cada persona representa un año desde 1925 hasta 2025. A su vez, cada año representa un momento vital, como un mosaico hecho de muchas historias, rostros, sueños y recuerdos. La suma de todas las edades da nombre al proyecto: son un total de 5.050 años de experiencia.
Sin la presencia de las 101 personas que salen en el retrato, el proyecto no sería posible. El retrato es, de hecho, una excusa para crear un momento único, mágico. La verdadera obra de arte no es solo la fotografía, sino el tiempo compartido para hacerla. 5050 años de experiencia es una oportunidad para reflexionar sobre los vínculos, sobre la importancia de crecer acompañados y sobre todas las cosas que nos unen. Vivimos porque vivimos con otros, la vida es un territorio compartido, atravesado constantemente por las vidas de aquellos a quienes queremos. Estar vivo, realmente, no es solo cumplir años, sino también compartirlos.
5050 Years of experience
5050 Years of Experience is a very special photograph that encompasses 100 years of life. In a group portrait, 101 people come together, each representing an age between 0 and 100. Those who are just beginning to live and those who carry decades of life on their backs. Many of them share family ties and friendships, but all are connected by a singular and invisible bond: being part, for one day, of a photographic family.
5050 Years of Experience speaks about the passing of time, about life and memory. Each person represents a year from 1925 to 2025. In turn, each year represents a vital moment, like a mosaic made up of many stories, faces, dreams, and memories. The sum of all their ages gives the project its name: a total of 5,050 years of experience.
Without the presence of the 101 people who appear in the portrait, the project would not be possible. The portrait is, in fact, an excuse to create a unique, magical moment. The true work of art is not only the photograph, but the time shared in order to create it. 5050 Years of Experience is an opportunity to reflect on connection, on the importance of growing up accompanied, and on all the things that unite us. We live because we live with others; life is a shared territory, constantly crossed by the lives of those we love. Truly being alive is not only about growing older, but also about sharing those years.
Los confines del instante
Antes de la realización de la fotografía, el Estudio Jordi Bernadó organizó un ciclo de conversaciones titulado Los confines del instante, junto a la periodista Mey Zamora. Los encuentros tuvieron lugar los lunes de octubre y noviembre de 2025 en el Estudio Jordi Bernadó y contaron con la participación de Mauricio Wiesenthal, Oriol Tejada, Javier Tejada, Carme Riera y Alicia Kopf.
Las conversaciones partieron de una idea aún no materializada: la fotografía 5050 años de experiencia, que en ese momento todavía no existía. A partir de esa imagen futura se activó una serie de encuentros para reflexionar sobre las inquietudes y esperanzas que atraviesan su obra.
¿Cómo nos contamos el mundo? ¿Cómo dialogan pasado, presente y futuro? ¿Qué pueden decirnos la literatura, la ciencia y la filosofía sobre las formas en que imaginamos nuestra existencia y le damos orden y sentido?
The confines of the moment
Before the actual photograph was created, Estudio Jordi Bernadó organized a series of conversations entitled Los confines del instante (meaning: the confines of the moment), together with journalist Mey Zamora. The sessions took place on Mondays during the months of October and November 2025 at Jordi’s Studio and featured contributions from Mauricio Wiesenthal, Oriol Tejada, Javier Tejada, Carme Riera, and Alicia Kopf.
The conversations originated from an idea that had not yet been materialized: the photograph 5050 Years of Experience, which at that time did not yet exist. From this future image, a series of encounters was set in motion to reflect on the concerns and hopes that run through his work.
How do we narrate the world? How do past, present, and future enter into dialogue? What can literature, science, and philosophy tell us about the ways in which we imagine our existence and give it order and meaning?
