El artista Jordi Bernadó fotografía los lugares donde se pronunciaron algunos de los discursos más simbólicos y transformadores de la historia; desde el Monumento a Washington de Martin Luther King Jr., al polideportivo del instituto Nashua High School South, donde Barack Obama pronunció por primera vez el famoso ‘Yes, We Can’, o la calle de High Street en Akron, Ohio, donde antes se encontraba la iglesia Old Stone Church desde la que Sojourner Truth dio su discurso ‘Ain’t I a Woman?’ Estas fotografías componen un archivo entre tiempos: las palabras quedan atrapadas, vivas, en los espacios retratados.
Sin embargo, Bernadó va más allá. I Have A Dream hace visibles las huellas de los discursos. Si la fotografía es un gesto preciso, pero fugaz (atrapa un instante que rápidamente deja de ser), la piedra es un símbolo de permanencia. Continuidad, inmortalidad.
En colaboración con Compac, el artista esculpe los discursos sobre grandes bloques de obsidiana. Palabras convertidas en superficie (fotografía) y en contenido (piedra), a la vez espejo de un pasado y rastro material para el presente.
El valor de la palabra no es permanecer atrapada en su lugar de enunciación, sino trascenderlo, moverse y crear nuevos significados. Las fotografías y piezas esculpidas se expondrán en el estudio del artista a partir del 13 de marzo de 2024.
I Have A Dream se convierte en una oportunidad para celebrar los vínculos y el diálogo, y la capacidad de las palabras para generar espacios y convocar nuevas voces. No se trata solo de traer las palabras al presente, sino de proyectarlas al futuro.

Artist Jordi Bernadó photographs the sites of some of the most important speeches in history; from the Washington Monument of Martin Luther King Jr, to the Nashua High School South sports hall, where Barack Obama first said the famous words 'Yes, We Can', or the High Street in Akron, Ohio, where the Old Stone Church once stood, and where Sojourner Truth gave his 'Ain't I a Woman?' speech. These photographs make up an archive between times: the words remain trapped, alive, in the spaces portrayed.
However, Bernadó goes further. I Have A Dream reveals the traces of these speeches. If the photograph is a precise but fleeting gesture (it captures an instant that quickly ceases to be), the stone is a symbol of permanence. Continuity, immortality.
In collaboration with Compac, the artist sculpts speeches on large blocks of obsidian. Words become surface (photography) and content (stone), both a mirror of the past and a material trace for the present.
The value of words is not to remain trapped in their place of enunciation, but to transcend it, to move and create new meanings. The photographs and sculpted pieces will be exhibited in the artist's studio from 13 March 2024.
I Have A Dream becomes an opportunity to celebrate bonds and dialogue, and the capacity of words to generate spaces and summon new voices. It is not just about bringing words into the present, but projecting them into the future.
